What Is Gujarat Public Service Commission?
Gujarat Public Service Commission (GPSC) is an exam conducting body of the Govt. of Gujarat which conducts the prestigious Gujarat Administrative Service, Class- 1 and Gujarat Civil Service, Class 1 & 2 examination across the state. The exam is divided into three parts – Preliminary, Mains Examinations and Personality Test. After passing through all the stages, the candidate is allotted a particular service vis-a-vis Dy. Collector, Dy. Superintendent of Police, Mamlatdar, Taluka Development Officer, Section Officer etc. according to his/her rank. All the candidates who qualify for the Gujarat Administrative Service, Class- 1 and Gujarat Civil Service, Class 1 & 2 examination are gazzeted officers to the Govt. of Gujarat.
For a candidate to appear for the examination, he/she should be at least 20 years of age on the last date of online application and not be more than 35 years of age on the last date of online application. Upper age limit shall be relaxed as per government notification. He/She should at least be in the final semester/year of graduation but the candidate has to qualify and submit the required qualification as advertised before the last date of submitting application for Mains examination.

- Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice papers).
- The question papers will be set in both Gujarati and English.

GPSC MAIN EXAMINATION STRUCTURE (Class 1 & 2 Services)
Purpose of the Mains Exam:
To test the thinking ability, depth of understanding, and analytical skills of candidates.
Questions are framed to be answerable by a well-educated generalist, without the need for specialized study.
Emphasis is on relevant, logical, and meaningful responses that show awareness, clarity, and judgment.

Paper I (Gujarati) and Paper II (English) must be written in their respective languages.
Papers III to VII can be answered in either English or Gujarati as per candidate’s choice.
In case of ambiguity, the English version of the syllabus will be considered final.
